This painting was apart of the “Pakowhai – The Eye of Opotiki” Art Exhibition in 2014, it is a celebration of the identity, beauty and strength of the local Opotiki Maori Iwi - Whakatohea.

The figure depicted is of a local Opotiki boy who was born and bought up on Opape Marae in the 1950’s. The location of the Marae is situated off State Highway 35, on the way towards the East Coast.
