“Te Waka Waiporoporo” (The Purple Canoe) is inspired by the journey of the Maori people from Hawaiiki, the mythical ancestral homeland of the Maori. The colour purple is historically symbolic of spiritual fulfilment. It is said if you surround yourself with purple you will have peace of mind. Purple has been used to symbolize magic and mystery, as well as royalty. Being the combination of red and blue, the warmest and coolest colors.

The intricately carved bow piece of the Waka mark the arrival of a rare and sacred visitor to Aotearoa New Zealand. The land of the long white cloud.
