Native Shadows - Motherland

Native Shadows - Motherland

"Native Shadows - Motherland" is inspired by the natural New Zealand forest environment, capturing the tonality of light and dark, creating shadows, form and light, using acrylic paint to create an evocative expression of beauty that defines a connection between nature and art.

This is a study of the native forest filled with Kawakawa, Karaka, Puriri, Rimu and Pohutukawa trees that line the beach and surrounding hills on the doorstep of Te'Mete's family home in Whanarua Bay based on the Eastern Bay of Plenty in New Zealand, a perfect setting for the artist to create and be inspired.

The native tree's litter the entire coastline and hills of the region that cascade from mountain tops to the ocean floor, it is a beautiful part of the world, and is a paradise haven for many who visit.

In 2017 the artist sold out of all his artwork, attracting investors and collectors in NZ and overseas. The artist vowed to only produce a limited number of works each year, to protect buyers interest.

During 2017 Te Mete  traveled around the globe visiting 17 different countries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, upon his return home he reconnected to the spiritual foundation of his passion for art and began creating this new artwork, "Native Shadows - Motherland" which has been months in the making.

The artist has an inherent interest in the realm of spiritual connectivity, tuning into his surrounding's of native forest and wildlife that attribute to his solid depth of understanding that nature and its influence in human vibration frequency enable's people to connect with each other, just like art does.

"Native Shadows - Motherland" is a transcendental elevation of connecting to the wairua (spirit) of mother earth and our motherland of Aotearoa.
