Kea - Still I Rise

Kea - Still I Rise

This painting represents the light at the end of the tunnel… a homage to our ancestry… our dark and bloody past.

The length of time in history represented by old ancient Pohutukawa Trees, depicted as silhouettes with light piercing through.

The Kea… A symbol of rising above and reaching new heights.

While within each and everyone of us are the gifts of our ancestors that exists through generations…

That even in terror and fear there is a day break that’s wondrously clear … like the light shining and sparkling brightly in this painting, it shines on our dreams, which are the hopes of those who walked the very same land… you walk… who breathed the same air you breathe, that dreamed and hoped the same as you do.

Like the Kea that spreads its wings and flys... we will Rise.
