Several years ago I was visiting a region of Thailand called Chiang Mai and decided to investigate an elephant sanctuary deep in the jungle about a two hour or more drive from the main city. I had done a lot of research about the sanctuary and felt confident that it was a good place to visit.  The elephants were rescued from unsavory conditions to live out the rest of there lives in paradise.
 
 The elephants were use to human contact, their bodies were enormous and their souls were gentle. I got t spend time in the mud and swimming in the river with them. 
 
This artwork depicts an elephant called Puma in abstraction. The black emphasizes the tragedy of where there lives began enslaved to an owner and the Braille encrytion is faintly displayed at the top of the artwork which in translation means: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams"
 
I used this quote because as humans we neglect to understand that it's not just our lives that matters, but infact all living beings matter, we are all connected and part of something bigger.
